Type 4 - Coily Hair

Type 4 hair can range from fine and thin--to wiry and coarse, with a ton of strands densely packed together.Coily hair has fewer cuticle layers than any other hair type **yawn** which simply means that it has less protection from the damage inflicted with everyday styling: combing, brushing, curling, blow-drying and straightening. Very, very important to keep your Type 4 hair moisturized and protected to avoid breakage and other disorders that stunt growth and cause severe damage. A healthy hair care regimen will take your Natural Type 4 hair from a naughty nightmare to a beautiful crown of sensual beauty. First, you'll want to begin with identifying your Type 4 Hairtype.

4A - Coily Springy℠


Type 4a is tightly coiled hair that has an "S" pattern. It has more moisture than 4b; it has a definite curl pattern. The circumference of the spirals is close to that of a crochet needle. The hair can be wiry or fine-textured. It is very fragile with lots of strands densely packed together. Type 4 hair has fewer cuticle layers than other hair types, which means it has less natural protection from damage.

Type 4 hair can range from fine/thin to wiry/coarse with lots and lots of strands densely packed together. Type 4b hair often shrinks up to 75% of the actual hair length.

• Use a heavy creamy cleanser to keep your coils healthy and moisturized

Type 4c hair is composed of curl patterns that will almost never clump without doing a specific hair style. It can range from fine/thin/super soft to wiry/coarse with lots of densely packed strands. 4c hair has been described as a more "challenging" version of 4b hair. Some say 4c looks identical to 4b except that the curls are so tightly kinked, there is seemingly no definition. 4c hair can shrink more than 75%.

A few months ago I stumbled upon this image of a modern chess set by Karim Rashid while reading a blog-site I frequent. I spent what felt like hours searching for a site to purchase this fabulously chic set---I just had to have it as the focal point of our black & white living room... My Husband and I both being strategic lovers of a great chess game... one of our most favorite pastimes... But of course as I begin clicking away for one thing online.. I become easily distracted and begin yet another dire mission.

I never did find a site where the set was still in stock, Yet the forms and design of this work of art stayed with me for days and carefully birthed inspiration for my next Collection.

This collection is an aggregate of black & white color blocking with use of brocade, jacquard, leather and damask textures and prints--structured peplum and illusion cocktail dresses I simply call "Chess Club Collection".
